Welcome

The Academy was established in 1995 under the name of the Academy of Planning Supervisors in support of the CDM Regulations 1994 to provide an organisation that cared about the new role created for planning supervisors and provide a creditable means for the competency assessment for planning supervisors and all other consultants and responsible persons under the 1994 regulations. The Academy had gained valuable experience and developed over the past years into a compact organisation providing awareness, advice and training for individuals, companies and partnerships wishing to update and consolidate their vocational experience with health and safety competence in order to perform the functions of planning supervisors and duty holders.

The Academy has established training and recognised competence qualifications for health and safety development and assistance with continuing technical and professional development certificates.

With the revision to the CDM under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 the role of planning supervisor has been replaced with a new role “the Co-ordinator” with the additional responsibilities.

Therefore the Academy has changed its name to THE ACADEMY OF CDM PROJECT CO-ORDINATORS. The aims of the Academy do not change in any way and will continue to be an established organisation that cares about the project co-ordinator and provides a creditable means for competency assessment for project co-ordinators and all other consultants and responsible persons under the new regulations.

The only change is that after 14 years established experience and development the Academy will form a membership structure so as to provide an ongoing association for health and safety competency for the CDM Co-ordinator. This has now been formed as "Association of CDM Co-ordinators".
